George Goes to Europe - Day 15

Family fun on the shore

Tuesday, July 12 - Happy 8 month birthday George! We celebrated by spending a beautiful morning at our favorite little cove, Verafels - a place we discovered on our first visit to the area in 2012. George and Daddy happily played in the shallows while I improvised a bathing suit (black bra and pajama bottoms!) and delighted in swimming in the sea. The water is so clear and clean in the Kvarner Gulf of the Adriatic you can easily see to the bottom and even fish swimming about. The temperature was perfect, cool with the occasional warm spot. It was a wonderful morning, topped off by the appearance of George's very first tooth! Possibly cut on a rock from the beach that George was gnawing on (we kept the rock, of course).

All ready for the water

George loves the water!

We enjoyed a terrific seafood platter for two at a restaurant in the old city center (a terrific recommendation from Darija) for a late lunch before retreating to our air conditioned room to escape the extreme heat of the afternoon.

Delicious! And George slept through the meal. ;-)

Happy to be cooling off

We headed out again to visit a couple of our favorite shops before meeting friends Robert and Darija for a drink at a pub in the harbor. It was a terrific end to a lovely day!
