Ahhh, Sunday! A peaceful day filled with rest, family, and amazing food all while staying put in Mune.
Nick enjoyed another morning run and did not see any migrants today. He did run within feet of the Slovenian boarder, and was able to see the fence. No police today though.

We enjoyed a quiet morning at the Načinović house. George and Sara walked up the lane to feed the neighbor's chickens (whose eggs are delicious, by the way!). George took an early nap while Nick and Katie walked to check on the little white house. Cousin Igor has been cutting down the weeds, parked a trailer in front to make it look more lived in, and has tied the door shut to help try to keep migrants out. They broke in this winter and tried to make a fire with sticks in the stove, but thankfully failed. Electricity to the building has now been shut off and it has no water, but in winter just a building is good enough. We did find a stack of old letters from Katie's great-grandfather to the house's last occupant (dated late 60s to mid 70s) which will be fun to look through.

George woke from his nap just in time to take a ride in a REAL fire truck! A small Mercedes "retro" truck built in 1971. Katie, George, and Cousin Jan were given a ride (complete with siren) around Male Mune. Pretty amazing how the truck (still big on these tight roads) is able to maneuver.

When we arrived back Dado and Igor were just finishing up at the grill (using the traditional Mune charcoal). Lots of nice visiting with all our Mune cousins. George even finally mastered pedaling the tricycle, which proved to be as much fun as the trampoline. We enjoyed a short walk up to see the two horses, and Katie found the one to be very friendly so George got in several nose rubs.

The evening brought farewell visits with friends and family. As always, it is very hard to leave Mune. Hopefully we can all return soon!
