Day 13:

We tried our best to leave Vienna... had a nice breakfast at the motel, caught the 8:30am
Postbus to the airport, checked our bags, even found a delightful children's play area near our gate that George LOVED. But our Austrian Airlines flight to Frankfurt was delayed, and delayed some more before finally being cancelled due to maintenance issues. So... bonus afternoon in Vienna!

We were taken to a motel near the city center in a private black Mercedes (George wore a seatbelt but no carseat, he was excited!). Had a bite to eat in the motel restaurant (all gratis from the airline) and then headed back into the city center. This proved to be more difficult than it should have been as the nearest underground line (U4) was closed for repair and you can't buy any tickets on buses anymore... so we walked. The good news was that on Wednesdays the Natural History Museum is open late, so we spent the afternoon among dinosaurs, meteorites, and moon rocks... many of which you can actually touch! George even managed one more Sacher torte in the museum's cafe.

Our action packed previous day meant to wear us out to rest on the plane trip home sadly backfired so that we were all very tired for this bonus day out in Vienna. However, fun was still had and this evening as we walked through the
Museumsquartier we were ready to go home.
