Day 4:

While Katie practiced in the morning, Nick and George finally were able to check out the nearby playground. George had been hoping for a merry-go-round spinning thing, but a heavy duty digger in a sandbox proved to be a reasonable substitute.

After a small snack of bananas, crackers and pretzels while watching the ducks at the Hilmteich lake (including a baby duck!) George and Katie headed to the Children's Museum, while Nick went back to the apartment to do some work.

The Children's Museum has two areas, one for 8 year olds and up about all things money, and one for the smaller set about painting. George got suited up and was allowed to literally paint everything (minus the windows and ceiling). He had a great time and we managed to leave without any stains!

Nick was waiting for us in the
Hauptplatz with sandwiches, frankfurters, and
apfelsaft gespritz. Yum! After lunch we stopped for ice creams. Nick had apricot, Katie had coffee, and George selected "PINK" which was a strawberry and vanilla combination. All were outstanding, as usual.

After ice cream, we met up with Wolfgang, a friend from our UNL days. We all hiked up the
Schlossberg together to the enjoy the views and drinks in the beer garden. George even managed to hitch a ride most of the way, and was soon BEST friends with Wolfgang.

We had a late, but delicious dinner at a restaurant just off the
Hauptplatz before heading back for the night. George loved his
käsespatzel (Austrian version of macaroni and cheese), even if the dish did burn his finger a little.
