Day 5:
| On top of the Schöckl! |
This morning we actually ALL slept in until after 8am! Hooray!
| Back on the tram! |
Today was Katie's flute lesson day with her teacher she first studied with back in 2013. So while she went up the hill for her lesson the guys headed to the police station to unregister Nick (when you are visiting for as long as Nick was you have to register with the local police) and then into the market at
Kaiser Josep Platz. After a bit of sampling and shopping they took the tram/bus (Line 1 is having some work, so a bus replaces the tram after the
Hilmteich stop) out to
Mariatrost for another staircase run and a look inside this beautiful Baroque-style church.

We all met back up at the apartment and after a quick snack of strawberries and apples (from the market) we hopped in the car and headed up to the
Schöckl, the local mountain. We took the cable car up (a first for George) and after a tasty lunch (which included George's first apple strudel) with an unbeatable view, the guys went on the
Hexenexpress together. George LOVED it and only wanted to go "faster" at every turn. Nick hardly used the break. Katie could hear his little voice squealing with delight all the way down the run! We also had fun with a large wooden ball run and George loved the playground equipment, especially the merry-go-round he had been looking for! We had a nice little hike around the top of the mountain and found several things on his nature scavenger hunt, though we were dissappointed to not see any cows on this visit. We did see LOTS of people paragliding!
| We're flying up the mountain! |
| Not a bad view for lunch! |
| First ever bite of apple strudel! Verdict? Very very good! |
| On the Hexenexpress |
| Too quick for Katie's camera skills, the boys FLEW down the track! |
| Super fun outside wooden ball run! |
| On our little hike, the building is where we ate lunch. |
| George, don't back up! Of course he did and we had to grab him. |
| Kid loves rocks and stairs, the makings of a future rock climber? |
| On the trail |
| Just a beautiful day on the mountain |
Unfortunately George fell asleep on the drive back into Graz which made bedtime later than we'd have liked tonight (not until 10:00pm!). We had a nice walk around the
Hilmteich lake, found our mama duck and baby duck friends, before treating ourselves to tasty beverages (white wines and apple juice) at the fancy
Purberg Cafe.
So sad that tomorrow is our last day in Graz. Next time we really need to make arrangements to stay longer!
